This classic bread pudding recipe is the simplest bake ever! A loaf of bread, a few other ingredients and you can create a decadent breakfast in an hour!

Yields16 Servings
Prep Time15 minsCook Time45 minsTotal Time1 hr
 16 Slices White Bread
 4 Eggs
 240 ml Milk
 200 ml Cream
 200 g Brown Sugar
 1 tsp Vanilla Extract
 1 tsp Ground Cinnamon
 50 g Unsalted Butter, Melted
 25 g Raisins, Soaked
1

Break the slices of bread into fourths. Since you don't have to be exact, and the pieces can be roughly sized, feel free to take out all your pent-up frustrations on the bread. Just don't overdo it and turn it into crumbs or else you'll have to find a new loaf to work with 😜

2

Flatten the pieces evenly into a greased 8" square baking dish and spoon the melted butter all over.

3

Mix the eggs, cream, milk, sugar, cinnamon, vanilla - basically everything else in a bowl and whisk until combined.

4

Pour the mixture over the bread. Make sure you pour it in a neat spiral pattern in an exact replica of the milky way. I'm just kidding, pour it any which way you want, as long as you get most of it in the dish!

5

Preheat oven to 170°C (340°F) or 145°C (295°F) if using a fan oven. Meanwhile, let the bread pieces completely soak in the mixture.

6

Sprinkle the soaked raisins over the top, cover the dish with foil and pop it into the oven for 45 minutes. For the last 5 minutes take the foil off the top to get a nice golden crust! If you take off the foil too early you will end up with burnt raisins or an overly tough crust, so you must be patient!

7

Serve hot or cold, it tastes delicious either way!
